Overview

PickleCue, operated by ANSI Corporation (“we,” “our,” or “us”), is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information across our website (www.picklecue.com) and our iOS mobile application.

Plain-English summary We collect the minimum we need to run the product. We never sell your data. You can delete your account, and the waitlist, at any time — no questions asked.

Pre-Launch Website Waitlist

Before PickleCue is available on the App Store, visitors to our website can join a waitlist to be notified at launch. If you submit the waitlist form, we collect and process the following:

  • Email address — the only personal data we store. Used solely to send you a one-time launch notification and, at most, one or two pre-launch updates.
  • Source tag — a static label indicating the signup came from the website (no personalization).
  • Signup timestamp — when you submitted the form.

We do not collect your IP address, browser user-agent string, referrer URL, device fingerprint, cookies, or any advertising identifier in connection with the waitlist form.

Storage & access

Waitlist emails are stored in our Supabase database with row-level security that prevents anyone but authorized staff from reading the list. Transmission is encrypted over TLS 1.3.

Retention

We delete waitlist emails within 90 days after we send you the launch notification, unless you have converted the address into a PickleCue account (in which case it becomes part of your account data and is governed by the rest of this policy).

Unsubscribe / deletion

Every email we send will include an unsubscribe link. You may also request immediate deletion at any time by emailing privacy@picklecue.com — no account or justification required.

Sharing

Waitlist emails are never sold, rented, or shared with advertisers. The only third parties that process these emails are Supabase (storage) and, at launch, the email service we use to send the notification (currently undecided; this policy will be updated with the provider name before any email is sent).

Website Analytics & Cookies

This website (picklecue.com) uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic — which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors arrive from, and general device and browser type. This helps us improve the site before launch. It is separate from the waitlist form above, which still collects only your email address.

  • Cookies it sets — Google Analytics stores first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_…) in your browser to tell repeat visits apart. These are analytics cookies, not advertising cookies.
  • What is sent to Google — pseudonymous usage data (page paths, referrer, approximate location, device/browser). GA4 does not log or store your full IP address, and we do not use it to identify you personally.
  • What we do NOT do — we do not sell this data, build cross-site advertising profiles, or link website analytics to any PickleCue account.

Consent in the EU/UK/Switzerland. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, analytics cookies are off by default and only activate if you accept them in our cookie banner (Google Consent Mode). You can change your mind at any time via the “Cookie preferences” link in the site footer, which reopens the banner.

Your choices. You can decline these cookies through your browser’s cookie settings, use the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or enable “Do Not Track.” Blocking them does not affect your ability to use the site or join the waitlist. Google’s handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Court Pages & Maps

The court pages under picklecue.com/courts are plain static pages. They set no cookies and run no analytics. They do not know who you are, and nothing you do on them is recorded by us.

The map is the one exception, and only if you scroll it into view. Each court page is delivered with a simple map drawn on our own server, which involves no third party at all. If you scroll far enough that the map is about to become visible, and your browser supports WebGL, the page then loads the real interactive map: the software (MapLibre GL JS) is served from our own domain, but the map imagery is fetched from OpenFreeMap.

What that means for you. Fetching an image from another server requires your browser to connect to it, so OpenFreeMap receives your IP address and which map tiles you asked for, in the same way any site that shows a map does. We send them nothing else: no name, no account, no identifier, no cookie. OpenFreeMap is a free, non-commercial, open-source tile service that states it sets no cookies and does not track users; their terms are at openfreemap.org. We chose it over the commercial map providers for exactly this reason.

If you would rather not connect to them at all, do not scroll the map into view, or disable JavaScript for this site. The page keeps working, the court list and addresses are all still there, and you still get a static map. Nothing is hidden behind the interactive version.

The court data itself, and the licences for everything the site redistributes, are set out in our third-party notices.

Links to Other Websites

Our website and the App contain links to sites operated by others — including event registration pages, venues, clubs, and community organizations.

Some of these links carry a tracking parameter (for example a utm_source tag) so we can measure how many visitors we referred to an event or partner. This tells us the number of clicks in aggregate. It does not identify you to us, and it does not send the destination site any personal information beyond what your browser normally provides when following any link.

Once you follow a link away from PickleCue, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. Anything you provide on that site — including your name, contact details, or payment information — is collected by that organization under its own privacy policy and terms. We do not receive it, and we have no control over how it is handled. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you register or pay on.

Business & Partnership Inquiries

If you contact us about a partnership, event, club, league, or sponsorship, we receive whatever information you choose to send us — typically your name, organization, email address, phone number, and details about your event.

We use this only to respond to you and to evaluate working together. We do not add it to marketing lists without your consent, we do not sell it, and we retain it only as long as needed for that purpose. To have an inquiry deleted, email privacy@picklecue.com.

Information the App Collects

Information you provide

  • Account Information: Email address, display name, username, and profile photo or emoji avatar. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address from that provider.
  • Event Registrations and Waivers: When you register for a tournament, league, or other organized event, we collect the registration details you provide (such as name, email, phone number, and an optional rating ID) and any liability waiver acknowledgment. A waiver acknowledgment records your name, the time you signed, and — for event-integrity and fraud-prevention purposes — the IP address and browser/device identifier (user agent) the signature came from. Some events allow registration without a PickleCue account, in which case an email address is required; to prevent abuse of account-free registration, we temporarily record the requesting IP address for rate limiting and delete it within 2 days.
  • Profile Data: Skill level, bio, play preferences, and home city you choose to share.
  • Game Data: Games you create, join, or participate in, including RSVPs and waitlists.
  • Match History: Scores, match results, and performance statistics you log.
  • Communications: Messages sent through in-app chat, including direct messages and league chat. Messages are retained until you delete them or your account. Our moderation team can review and remove messages and other content that are reported or flagged by automated safety systems.
  • Social Connections: Friends you add and interact with.
  • Availability: The days and times you choose to mark yourself available to play.
  • Court Reviews: Ratings, reviews, and comments you submit for pickleball courts.
  • Reports: Information you provide when reporting other users or content.

Information collected automatically

  • Device Information: Device type and operating system version.
  • Location Data: With your permission, we collect precise location (latitude and longitude) to show nearby courts, games, leagues, and weather conditions.
  • Usage Data: App interactions, features used, search queries, and session duration.
  • Crash and Performance Data: Error logs, crash reports, and performance metrics to improve stability.
  • Purchase Data: Your subscription tier and the Apple transaction identifier for a PickleCue Pro purchase. When you subscribe, we attach a random account identifier (your PickleCue account UUID) to the Apple transaction and keep a record linking the subscription to your account, so the subscription works only on the account that purchased it. All payment is processed by Apple — we never receive or store your card details.
  • Reputation and Ratings: Trust and reputation signals derived from your play history and peer interactions, badge feedback other players give you after matches (such as “Good Sport” or “On Time”), and star ratings you give or receive when acting as a match scorekeeper. Scorekeeper ratings are anti-retaliation by design: the person you rate never sees who submitted a rating.

Device permissions

  • Calendar: If you enable “Auto-sync games to calendar,” PickleCue adds and updates events for the games you join in your device calendar. These events are written directly on your device via Apple’s EventKit and are never transmitted to our servers or any third party. Calendar access is optional and can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings.
  • Notifications: With your permission, we store a device token and your device’s name (as set in iOS Settings) to deliver push notifications about your games, messages, and updates and to help you recognize your devices. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.
  • Live Activities: If you use lock-screen live scoreboards, we store an Apple Live Activity token to update the scoreboard on your lock screen and Dynamic Island during a match. Tokens are deactivated when the match ends.
  • Camera: With your permission, used to take photos for your profile and court submissions. Camera access is optional.
  • Photo Library: With your permission, used to choose a profile photo and to save QR codes or invite images you create. Photo access is optional.
  • Face ID: If you enable the optional app lock, Face ID is used to unlock PickleCue. Biometric authentication is performed entirely by iOS on your device — we never receive or store biometric data.
  • Contacts: If you use “Invite Friends” and grant Contacts access, PickleCue matches your address book on your device to help you find friends and send SMS invitations. Your contacts are processed on your device and are never uploaded to our servers or shared. Contacts access is optional.
  • Emergency Contacts: If you add emergency contacts, their name and phone number are stored only on your device and are never transmitted to us or any third party.

How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and maintain the PickleCue service.
  • Match you with nearby players, courts, and games.
  • Enable messaging between players.
  • Calculate and display match statistics.
  • Display weather conditions at courts.
  • Process and manage your subscription.
  • Send notifications about games and messages.
  • Maintain reliability, prevent abuse, and improve PickleCue using operational logs and aggregate server-side metrics. We do not use a third-party in-app analytics SDK, advertising identifiers (IDFA), or cross-app tracking, and the app does not show Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and objectionable content.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

Third-Party Services

  • Supabase: Backend database and authentication. Stores user accounts, profiles, games, matches, messaging, and subscription data. Encrypted in transit and at rest with row-level security policies.
  • Sentry: Crash reporting. Receives anonymized error data linked only to your UUID. No email, name, or personally identifiable information is sent.
  • Apple WeatherKit: Location coordinates sent for court weather conditions. No user identity included.
  • Open-Meteo: A weather API used only as a fallback when Apple WeatherKit is unavailable. It receives court/location coordinates to return conditions. No user identity is included.
  • Apple Push Notification Service: Device token stored for push notifications. Disable anytime in iOS Settings.
  • Google Sign-In: If you choose “Continue with Google,” Google’s sign-in software processes your authentication on the device and we receive your name and email address from Google. Google’s handling of your Google account is governed by Google’s own privacy policy. We do not use Google services in the app for analytics or advertising.

What We Do NOT Do

  • We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
  • We do not use your data for advertising purposes.
  • We do not use a third-party in-app analytics SDK.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.
  • We do not share your location with advertisers.
  • We do not transmit your calendar data off your device.

Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides:

  • Encrypted data transmission (TLS 1.3).
  • Encrypted data at rest (AES-256).
  • Row-level security policies.
  • SOC 2 Type II compliance.

Authentication is handled through secure tokens. We never store your password directly in the app.

International Data Transfers

PickleCue is operated from the United States, and your data is stored on servers located in the United States (Supabase, hosted on AWS in Oregon). If you use PickleCue from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, your personal data is transferred to and processed in the United States.

We protect these transfers through recognized legal safeguards:

  • EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF): Our hosting infrastructure provider (Amazon Web Services) is certified under the DPF and its UK and Swiss extensions.
  • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs): We have signed data processing agreements incorporating the European Commission’s SCCs with our data processors, including Supabase (database and storage) and Sentry (crash reporting).
  • Data in transit is encrypted with TLS 1.3 and at rest with AES-256, regardless of region.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Other Users: Your profile, match history, and reputation are visible to other players based on your privacy settings.
  • Live Scores and Spectators: When you play in a live-scored game, tournament, or league, your display name or team label, avatar, and scores are shown in real time to participants and spectators — in the app, on lock-screen Live Activities, and on live score web pages that can be opened via share links or QR codes by people who do not have a PickleCue account. Live updates stop when the match ends.
  • Service Providers: The third-party services listed above.
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights.
  • Business Transfers: If we merge with or are acquired by another company.

Your Privacy Controls

In the app’s Settings > Privacy, you can:

  • Set Profile Visibility: Choose between Everyone, Friends Only, or Private.
  • Control who can see your location (exact, city-level, or hidden).
  • Hide your activity status.
  • Hide your match history.
  • Control search discoverability.
  • Block messages from non-friends.
  • Block and mute other users.

When you enable Private mode, other users see a “This Profile is Private” notice. Your display name and avatar remain visible for identification in games.

Location Data

We collect location data only when:

  • You grant permission in iOS Settings.
  • The app is actively in use (not in background).

You can revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings.

Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time through the app (Settings > Delete Account) or by emailing privacy@picklecue.com.

When you delete your account:

  • Your profile is immediately removed.
  • Your match participation and personal data are deleted. Matches, games, or leagues you shared with other players remain visible to them, but without your identity attached.
  • Your messages are deleted.
  • Your push notification and Live Activity tokens are deleted.
  • The record linking a PickleCue Pro subscription to your account is released. If your Apple subscription is still active, you can re-associate it with a new account later by restoring purchases (the purchase is verified with Apple before any re-association).
  • Groups, leagues, or tournaments you created that still have other members are transferred to another member rather than deleted, so those communities continue to function.
  • Your data is purged from our systems within 30 days.

Crash data (Sentry) is retained for up to 90 days.

Children’s Privacy

PickleCue is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • Access your personal data.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Delete your data.
  • Export your data (available to all users in the app under Settings, in JSON and CSV formats).

We do not sell personal information. California residents have additional rights under CCPA. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes through the app or via email.

August 23, 2026. Added the “Court pages & maps” section, which describes the map on the public court pages and the fact that loading it connects your browser to OpenFreeMap. Nothing we collect changed; this documents a third-party connection that the earlier version did not describe.
